Visit Annecy

During your stay at la Ferme de la Serraz campsite, we suggest you visit Annecy for one or two days.

From our campsite, you can safely reach the town via the cycle path around Lake Annecy.

Annecy and its treasures

Renowned for its architectural charm, Annecy is an essential stopover during your stay in Haute-Savoie. From the campsite, the city is accessible in 1 hour by bike via the cycle path. Take a day trip with the family to discover Annecy’s treasures and take advantage of its many assets: lunch at one of the renowned restaurants, shopping in the small designer stores, afternoon tea or a snack on the shores of the lake…

You will be charmed by the cobbled pedestrian streets of this town crossed by many pretty canals. As you stroll around, you will be surprised to discover the pastel tones of the traditional houses of the region. Set aside a few hours during your visit to Annecy to discover the regional history in the museum of ancient Alpine objects and religious works.

Some advice. When you arrive in Annecy, go to the tourist office. Their team will suggest the best things to do with your children during your visit of the town.

Annecy, an ancient medieval city

Annecy’s historic centre retains a very special charm and authenticity. Your children will be delighted to take part in a guided tour highlighting the life of the inhabitants of Annecy in the Middle Ages.

There are still many restored artisan workshops located along the canals of the old town. Don’t miss out on visiting the Musée-Château, realistic testimony of Annecy’s historical past. The Palais de l’île, built on a natural rocky island in the heart of the city, is certainly the most impressive monument in the region.

Activities to do with the family

If you like architectural heritage, the 5 clochers (5 bell towers) district in Annecy will surely interest you.

From these extremely well-restored religious buildings, you can also admire the panorama of the surrounding mountains. We recommend a picnic at the foot of one of the bell towers to admire the view and enjoy the peace and quiet with your family.

After strolling through the historic centre of Annecy and having a look in the many small designer boutiques, you can cool off and paddle your feet in the  lake from the esplanade The Pâquier.

This famous grassy park of several hectares on the banks of Lake Annecy is a great place for an ice-cream or snack before cycling back to the campsite, along the cycle path.

Don’t forget

In Annecy, you will be able to discover and taste regional culinary products at the markets, every Thursday and every Sunday of the summer season. The young and old alike always enjoy wandering around a local market!
